International Teaching Assistant (ITA) Orientation

September 15, 2017 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Victor Phillip Dahdaleh (formerly TEL) Building, 1014
Teaching Commons

This session is for all International graduate students who will be a Teaching Assistant (TA) at York University.*

Participants will learn more about the roles and responsibilities of being a TA at York.  They will get a chance to share their education experience with other new TAs and discuss what questions or uncertainties they may have, with guidance from experienced TAs.   In addition to providing resources and guidance to prepare International Teaching Assistants (ITAs) for the Canadian classroom experience at York, this session will allow ITAs the opportunity to share, discuss and explore how their nationality and cultural distinctiveness can become an asset to the York learning community in their new role as an ITA.

*Please note that ALL TAs are welcome to participate in this programming and use any resources for International TAs (ITAs).  You are not required to have official “international” status at York to participate.  If you are a TA with English as an Additional Language or you are interested in support for International TAs (ITAs) for a variety of other reasons, you are more than welcome to participate!
