eLearning @ York Course: Designing Fully Online Courses – Offering #1 – November 1 & November 8, 2017

The eLearning @ York course is a blended learning experience comprising two two-hour face-to-face sessions and two online sessions. Through these sessions, participants are encouraged to reflect on their experiences as a student of eLearning to inform the development and design of their own blended or online course.

Individual consultation sessions, booked to follow the last face-to-face session, will be available to participants seeking support to complete the final assignment and receive course credit. A set of resource, grouped by topic, will also be available to participants who would like further detail beyond what the collaborative sessions provide. These resources/modules are optional, and self-paced.

Participants are expected to actively engaging in all course activities. Participants will spend, on average, 1-2 hours per day over 3-5 days to complete the course.

iClicker Workshop – Thursday, November 9, 2017

iClicker Workshop

Did you know that York University is now supporting an iClicker tool that you can use for free in your class (face-to-face and online)? The iClicker tool, iClicker Cloud, is a mobile teaching platform to engage your students in real time to provide instant feedback and promote active learning.  Students can participate using their smart phones, tablets, or laptops.

This 90-minute hands-on workshop is a technical and pedagogical quickstart guide on using Reef in teaching.  During the workshop, you will experience the iClicker from both instructor’s and student’s perspective. You will set up your iClicker account and practice adding various activities using Reef. To take full advantage of the interactive activities in the session, please bring your laptop to this workshop
